Heading to McKee Bashers Saturday morning to possibly get frozen and get my new goose decoys wet. Anyone want to meet up and shoot some birds are welcome to join. I have way more decoys than I can carry so if you come you are also muling some down to the water.

You need waders and waterfowl stamps.

If you don't bring a gun, you don't handle a gun,you don't shoot a gun do I still need a stamp? Can I just tag along and laugh when you miss?

I can tell you for a fact the Monocacy river was frozen over. I would be willing to bet ice is forming along the edges. Nonetheless, be safe and best of luck.

A lot of the rivers have ice floating down them right now...might want to check it out first. We were on the shore yesterday and all the large creeks were full of big ice.

jgeskey, It's been years since I hunted MB but I thought there was a boundery line/ path in the back which was off limits to hunting beyond that line.

Perhaps that was only in a particular area but I assumed it went along the river. Hopefully I am wrong.

There is federal land along the river. There is a place to cross it and walk down to the river. You have to keep your gun cased until you get to the water.

Well, its a BUST. Just reported on DU that the river at MB is completely frozen over. That Sux, nowhere else for me to go. With the next 10 days of low temps that will not improve. My new geese are just itching to get wet.

If you read about any ice on that map report I wouldn't necessarily trust it you should go see for yourself if you're not too far away, that being said it has been really cold, good luck.

I was just on the upper Sassafras this morning. Pockets of open water through out. Geese are laying tight in the open water they can find. I was out at 9 am and none left the river before me. Got home around 10 and they were coming off the  open ponds in the area.
