The Maryland Bowhunting Hall of Fame is proud to present Bill Fowlkes as one of it's 2008 inductees.
For over 40 years, Bill has accomplished many things in the sport. But above all, he has also given back to his archery legacy not at just a state level, but national as well. The name Bill Fowlkes is a very well known name in the Maryland archery and bowhunting communities.
Albeit target archery or bow hunting, it will happen most every time. When his name is mentioned, someone most always will say, " I know that guy" or " man can that guy shoot".
Bill picked up archery around 1961 in his late teens. Shooting a bit and then the bug really set in a few years later when he tried his hand at bowhuntingHe began his bowhunting career in 1963 With a 59# Wing Red Wing Hunter recurve bow made by the company of the same name once owned and operated by the famed Bob Lee. He has bowhunted exclusively in Maryland, Maine, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Montana, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado, Tennessee, New York, Ontario & Quebec/Canada, and the vast expanses of Russia.
Bill has successfully taken many game animals in the Pope & Young class of Caribou, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Black Bear, Wild Boar, Elk, and an array of small game with traditional bow and arrow tackle. A fine shot fancying the vintage Hoyt magnesium risered take down recurves or Black Widow model bows. Bill has the keen eye, comfort level, and concentration to accomplish great feats in his adventures. Not only has Bill been successful in the wild, he has had great success amongst the target fields.

He has many 3D championships in the Traditional Archery category under his belt as well. Bill is a past 4 time MAA (Maryland Archery Association) 3D champion.
Holder of the MAA state broadhead championship record since 1994.
He is the 1994 1st place winner at the NFAA 3D Nationals, and 2nd place qualifier in 1993.
Former 3 time New York state Muzzy shoot 3D champion in the Traditional category. Bill has held numerous offices in the the organized archery community. Regular member and mid-1970's council member of the PBS (Professional Bowhunters Society), Charter membership in the Maryland Bowhunters Society, and charter member of the Traditional Bowhunters of Maryland since it's inception.
Today after many satisfying years afield, he enjoys life with his lovely spouse Robin in central Maryland. When he is not hunting, he is either collecting vintage bows and arrows or enjoying vintage hot rodding. On sunny afternoons Bill can be seen tearing up the street in his vintage 1960's Buick GS convertible powered by a mighty 455 C.I. motor. Muscle cars are another of Bill's passions.
