I was just off of rt 50, a few miles from the church.  I think that full moon got the best of us.  We had water just behind us, and every bird we saw was going straight for that water to do some loafing.  I think they were eating all night.  If you were on water, it seemed you had a good hunt.
Great day regardless.

Our guide did some magic for us. They were flying high but we managed to shoot 7 birds anyway - with only 5 people shooting.

And the icing on the day....my son was one of the boys to win a youth shot gun. Amazing group of people.

I was sitting next to one of the kids who won a call.  He refused to go up for the "competition".  Should have seen his face when they all got shotguns.

They had it up on their website, but it's not there anymore. They cap the number of hunters at 600 so maybe they hit their number and took it down.

Essentially, you pay $75 and fill out a waiver form. Send that it and you are emailed a number.

Show up at the church in the morning for sign in and a light breakfast. A guide will take you and a group to a blind for a goose hunt. After the hunt, back to the church for lunch.

For $75, you can't beat it.

I've never been, but read about it for years and heard if from friends who have gone.

We ended up outside of Trappe.

The guides/callers were outstanding but fighting a losing battle with too many competing groups.
Six guys & the guide; ended up with 6..

God bless Billy Hughes for putting together outstanding event.

Being my first time, I didn't know what to expect. Hunting geese mainly on the western shore, I fully expected birds to stop flying early and us maybe scratching up a few.

We ended up watching groups fly by until we packed it up around 11:30 to head to lunch. You could tell they were being pressured. Some groups would fly over without a second glance. Some birds circled and circled and circled. looking for anything that they didn't like. As you can see from DoubleA's post, we were lucky enough to bring a few in. 7 geese, 5 guys.

The lunch was awesome. Chili, gumbo, goose, deer, oysters, catfish, BBQ, sides, etc.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

The oysters were delicious!

We were 6 and shot 8 birds.  We shot 8 out of a pit and then swapped with another group to give those guys a chance to get on some birds.  Didn't shoot anything out of the blind we were in after that.

The guide was great! Decoys were already out for us and he was really considerate of the other groups out. It was his idea to have us swap after we killed our birds to give the other guys a chance too.

Haven't done this one in a few years now. Last time we did it, we were clearly put in a field where the a frame had been built the night before. SUPER green branches in the middle of a field...stood out like a sore thumb. Not a single bird came near us. Food is awesome, but they have to many people signed up. Gotta put a limit on numbers.

I'd love to do this, but just have too many balls in the air.

Here is the registration link for the Easton Maryland Church of God goose hunt. You have to be registered by Dec. 15th of this week. https://www.eastoncog.org/goosehuntregistration The hunt date this year is Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019.

Here is the Details for the Cambridge, MD 2018 goose hunt. I don't see one listed for 2019 yet.

I have hunted this in the past and even me a few guys from Maryland Whitetail forum there, including Art. Not sure if I am going this year since a variety of my hunting buddies are not going due to health issues.

Immanuel UCC will host a waterfowl hunt on Saturday, January 13, 2018.  This will be a guided hunt on some of the Eastern Shores wonderful hunting properties.  Registration begins at 5:15am.  Hunt availability on a first-come, first-paid basis.  Groups and specialty requested sites will be done as conditions allow.  $80 fee includes continental breakfast, hunt and lunch or $50 for youth 16 and under (must be accompanied by an adult).  Lunch only by donation.  For more information and tickets, contact:  Jock Luthy 410-463-0985; Robin Burton 410-521-7869 or the church office 410-228-4640.
