1st off congrats to the Hunter, glad he got a deer. Times have changed and We should do a better job of presenting ourselves to the public. I’m guilty and been there done that. Tying it up to the 4 Wheeler I don’t believe is necessary especially with the tongue hanging out. Go ahead blow me up. Rte 50 eastern shore 8:45 today

I've had them laying in my truck bed before with the gate down.  Very common up north and down south.  I have pics from the old days of the deer tied down to the fenders of the old cars.

I'm kinda neutral on this , as I get and know what your saying but at the same time , I know when I was younger I loved seeing deer on vehicles , and kinda enjoy seeing a big buck in back of a truck now and the hunter proud of his accomplishments .

I agree Glen.  However, the guy could have "shown-off" his buck a little more "tastefully", perhaps tuck the tongue and turn the cavity inward.  I enjoy seeing deer displayed in a vehicle. It's what we do, BE PROUD !!!

With modern technology, every swinging Richard has a phone and can text pics, post pics, whatever... no need to go all redneck and tie the deer’s head up like that. There’s a line between successful hunt with deer on the trailer vs. just stupid. I don’t care if he was driving around the parking lot of Cabela’s - that just looks stupid.

SteelerFan, Buckrub243 Bowhntn  I agree with you. Displaying a trophy in a good way helps the hunter image. With hunters in a small minority in Md going out of your way to display deer in a stupid manner doesn't help the hunter or this site. BD your picture should have a case of beer included and the image many non hunters have of us would be complete. Let the negatives begin their normal tirade now about how it is their right and proud to do so.

As I said I have done the dead deer with tailgate down etc and in the past it was probably more received.
For a test I showed it to my wife, who has seen hundreds of dead deer, her response was “ that’s horrible” and that’s what most people would be saying.

BD, how did I know you were gonna chime in with a pic

Not a good display to help the next generation of hunters, just giving ammo to the other side for the long term battle we face to protect what we do. Science supports what we do, carrying capacity, etc. However, for the uneducated (wildlife issues) the images we choose to post is what they see and form opinions based on those images. In the world of instant media, we need to display our critters with class and dignity they deserve.

I am thinking times are changing because we have allowed multiple generations of p$&#%$@ to dictate. Out of respect for the dead (animal or people) I cover them up. A personal decision with a little bit more work, but I don't do it to please the anti's, etc..

That photo scream laziness to me. The deer was pulled from place of kill into the trailer. Didn't take the time to untie from the ATV. I don't cover, but my transports are in truck bed.

I just dont know what to say...

But, it does remind me of about 60 years ago when all the PA hunters went to the big woods in north central PA. I saw a buck, that probably had been hanging from a meatpole or a tree for a couple days and was froze in position, strapped up over a VW Beetle with the back legs tied to the rear bumper, and the front legs tied to the front bumper. The buck's head was sticking straight up and the way it was strapped over that VW it looked like the buck was breeding the bug.

I don't see nothing wrong with it.  I don't see it any different than deer hanging by the neck from the buck poles at the local bar or hunting store.[confused]  I dunno....maybe it's a local thing or small town thing??

Nothing wrong with it at all.
It is exactly the way I load mine, Drag it straight on up. Once 4 wheeler is against the front, strap it down. Go around and pull deer up on trailer.
DON'T LEAVE IT HANGING LIKE THAT. Take it down off the rope.
If you don't like it tough chit.
As far as the deer pole hangings, some of the coolest pictures ever. I took one in Potter County years ago and is one of my favorites still today.
I pity the sorry asses that passed by and thought that was terrible, up theirs.

Here’s one my Grandpap killed in the 50’s in Western Maryland. I doubt people were offended back then.
