BD, great old pics!!! I started bowhunting in 1966, got a bunch of old deer pole pics myself, spent time at checking stations like Shipway's
up around Green Ridge State Forest, a real social event back in those days. Different era back then, no instant social media, very few if any
anti hunting groups. I could give a rats arse about Offending the antis, they're a lost cause anyway. Having been involved in the political side of
defending bowhunting, it's the non hunters we need to be concerned about moving forward. Just sayin.

The more you bend to the antis the more they expect you to bend, until you stop hunting all together. Screw them and therir ilk, I don't think it'll hurt or help with level minded non hunters. And what's with worrying about the tongue....my god these snowflakes can't even see a tongue sticking out?

The bear outfitter I went with in May doesn't mess with the tongue....he just cuts it off for the photo ops.

Nothing wrong at all.  As a hunter be unremorseful for hunting and doing what you love.  Like said before if you bend to the antis a little then they will continue expecting you to bend.

I don’t see it as bending to the anti’s but showing respect for the animals we love to chase. I could careless about what the anti’s think, but I do care about how the non-hunting general public views hunting. No matter what way you look at it, hunters are a small percentage of the population, and i for one, don’t want to push someone who is either indifferent about hunting or supports the role of hunting in society (knowing they don’t have it in them to do it themselves) to view hunting in a negative light because of an action that could be easily remedied.

The general public can’t stomach dead animals which is why the vast majority choose to kill them with their checkbook rather kill their dinner themselves. And as hunters, we should be glad the massses can’t stomach it and don’t hunt since we seem to already have a lack of hunting areas as referenced in another thread.

But where we as hunters do need the general public is their perception of hunting. We need to continue to make sure the general public views hunters and hunting as a benefit to society. If the general public doesn’t believe we as hunters are valuable, we begin to lose our privileges. There is no constitutional right to hunt and fish in the state of MD. It may sound extreme but look at places like California and mountain lion hunting or certain sections of Canada with “trophy” grizzly bear hunting. Public perception in a democracy can and will sway based on how we present ourselves.

This is hunting site and I expected the responses given, I just know what can happen when a generation sees us as slob hunters and when it comes time for them to vote they will remember a deer strung up on a wheeler when they were in mommy’s car seat

It is fun joking with some of the responses. But you are right. We are the shining example. It is up to us to show respect for the quarry and act with dignity when in public.

Why do we have to be the ones that are always politically correct. I'm so tiered of having to watch what we say and do because it's going to ruffle someone's feathers . Aren't you just tied of worrying about stuff like this ? I know I am, it's just ridiculous . We are not going to make everyone happy no matter what we do .

I guess I just don’t see putting a deer I killed on a trailer without covering it up as a sign of disrespect to the animal or acting in an undignified way. Staying Within the bounds of the game laws is how I feel I act in a dignified way and utilize the game of this state respectfully. I struggle with this current state of people constantly looking to be offended by something that they disagree with. It’s tiresome.
