Reply with quote | #2 | Walk,......... walk alot, and think antlers. Don't look for rubs, scrapes or deer. You have to be thinking antlers and walk alot. Seriously.
In bad weather states like out west, you concentrate on south facing slopes, because they sun themselves there, but on the east coast we do not have bad winters like that. But you can look in bedding areas, if you are not afraid to bump them out. Fields where they spend alot of time at night. Fence lines or obstacles that they jump over, might cause a loose antler to drop.
The biggest thing is walk alot and concentrate on seeing antlers on the ground.

Walk and walk until you reach the other side of the planet. I walked so much last year until I finally came up with a jack pot area of antlers, alot of old ones but finally started to pay off. It was somewhere around 20 antlers or so in just on square mile. Note where you find them b/c usually the following years the same areas seem to produce, well that is for me at least. |
