Samick strikes again.  Made a bad shot when my string hit my stand at full draw.  Hit it smack in the ham completely broadside at 15 yards.  Not sure how but the the eclipse ended up lodged in the offside shoulder blade?!?!?!  Must have done the damage while running as I saw about 3 inches of penetration and my arrow sticking straight out from the hip when it ran off!  I thought i would never see it again but it bled out internally without a drop of blood on the ground in about 80 yards.  I waited about 2 hours before I took after it but it was stiff when I found him.  Very lucky!

This all started about this time last year.  I have been shooting wheels since starting bowhunting over 20 yrs ago.  Last fall, I met a guy who makes his own long bows and we started talking about trad. archery.  He had never made a recurve and that is where I wanted to start with trad. gear.  He decided to give it a try.  This spring, he brought me the final product.  I've been shooting it religously trying to get deadly with it through the spring/summer time.  I put it away for early sika deer hunting but swore it would be what I would chase whitetails with this fall.  I've hunted about 6-7 times, mainly on public land in Queen Anne's co. without any opportunities.  Well, last sat. after a buddy from PA who was hunting with me had to head back to PA, I decided to do a walk-about on public land here in Q.A. co. starting about 9:30am.  Within 20 min., I saw a deer bedded on the edge of some Phragmites about 30yds from me.  It took another 30 min. to move 20 yds closer to the bedded deer.  I was 10 yds from it and needed another 5 steps to get to a shooting lane at it while it was bedded.  I felt the wind swirl and saw the deer pick it's head up.  It immediately jumped to its feet and began looking for me.  I'm only 10 yds from it but it cannot pinpoint me.  It gets nervous and busts but only runs 20 yds to my right.  It stops broadside to me. I pull, anchor and release like so many times before in my yard.  The arrow flew true but my aim was a bit off.  I hit it back and decided to back out.  I let the deer lay the rest of the day and to come back first thing the next morning.  Next morning, go to where the deer had been standing, No blood, No arrow. I could clearly see the arrow stike the deer the day before so my brother and I slowly walk the direction it had run.  We go approx. 100 yds and begin to smell that oh so familiar smell in the woods, a deer is near.  We go another 20 yds and laying next to another phrag bed is the deer.  I know the shot wasn't great but I knew it would be lethal, just had to give it time.  Well, for my first year with Trad. gear, I am thrilled!

The specifics, Q.A. co public land from the ground, private made recurve (49#'s), Easton Legacy 2018, Magnus 100gr. 2-blade.

Does this count?
Its all I could muster all day today.  Only 1 deer sighting.
I got the first miss, and the 2nd kill shot
on video.
I usually start small, and work my way up.

The arrow in the log was the "miss" shot.

Shot this guy Nov the 5th about 7:30 in the morning.  I had 7 or 8 does all in front of me when he came in and started pushing them around.  Well I put a stop to that, shot him at 11 yards, he took 2 jumps and just stood there for 20 seconds.  Then his legs started getting wobbly and he took off for his last 30 yard run.
