Reply with quote | #1 | My poppy gave me a Colt recurve and on the side it says 60'' and 40# and it needs a new string. What do you think i should get for a string? I just wan't to practice a little with it. Also i want to know what kind of arrows to shoot. |

Reply with quote | #2 | The string should be (54" see post below) 56" long. It may come labeled as a AMO 60" but the actual length will be 56" long. If in doubt measure the string before leaving the store. The arrow type all depends upon your draw length. Without knowing that I'd suggest staying with aluminum arrows somewhere in the 1916 or 1820's.
I'm reluctant to ask where you are from but if we knew we might be able to get you hooked up with a knowledgeable traditional shooter in your area. BTW, my first recurve was a Colt with white limbs. Good luck.

PM Raineman here on the site, he will make you a string if he stays out of a tree long enough. |
