Anyone have experience on a caribou hunt? Im thinking one small tent and 3 or 4 men to share with a can of spray lubricant.

I've bow hunted Mtn caribou a number of times in the Yukon. Killed one many years ago. Have not hunted other caribou species. They can be difficult with bow, long shots, just depends on terrain and available cover.

I'll be doing a Woodland caribou hunt this fall, that can be a tough tag to get.

There are a few different kinds of caribou subspecies to go on , all have there good and bad points . You have mountain, woodland, Quebec plains , perry and Alaskan plains , some have different names as per the area they are in , and migrate to and from . I really liked my hunts , my woodland was fully guided and I enjoyed it . The Quebec hunt was DIY and even tho we got our 10 man limit it was s hard hunt and a pain in the azz . I believe you should add to your list but make the trip a fully guided hunt. They are fun and if you hit the migration perfect it’s awesome, the thing there is setting your goal really high and make sure the guide don’t let you shoot and average sized one . You’ll start to hear a bunch of loud clicking and thunder lol , as the heard is heard your way , That’s when it gets interesting as the huge one could be 15 yards away and no shot because 20 other ones could be standing around it . Definitely great to hunt

You need to be aware, Quebec caribou hunts were suspended indefinitely starting a couple years ago and continued through this fall. With the Woodland tag tough to get by draw, you’ll need an outfitter tag. That leaves Mountain Caribou, Barren Ground and Central Barren Ground as your other options. Might consider Greenland as well. I use Bowhunting Safari Consultants to book most of my hunts. They set up my Woodland hunt for next Oct. Contact me if you get serious about it.
